Walk of Fame’s Star: The last frontier of Peter Jackson

Most of you may don’t know who Peter is. For all of you, I recommend you to take you’re The Lord of the Rings case films and read their back, because Peter Jackson is the New Zealand director, producer, and screenwriter of these striking films.

Since he was a child and his friends gifted him his first Super 8 camera, he have seen the world through a lens, making us get emotion with his adaptation films and with his own creations. His characteristic films are based on amazing special effects made at a very low cost.

He shone with his first long film Bad Taste (1987). Jackson himself did nearly everything in the movie; he directed, produced, filmed and starred in it. He used a $250 second-hand camera to film the movie. It took Jackson and his friends four years to complete it. What had started as a joke in a group of friends, then, became a cult classic.

A friend of Jackson who was working in the movie industry convinced him the film had commercial prospects and arranged for it to be shown at the Cannes film festival, where it won a lot of acclaim, as well as a number of prizes. The movie soon became a hit because of its bizarre humor and overdose of special effects, some realistic and some comically amateur.

After that, Jackson became a director and the door to fame and fortune was opened to him. He gave up his job at a local photographer's shop and became a well-known director. He has directed many films like The adventures of Tintin, King Kong, and other less known such as Heavenly Creatures, Forgotten Silver or District 9.

One of his many works was the adaptation of The Lord of the Rings, a fantasy book from the successful writer John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. Actually, he has just adapted the prequel of TLOTR, The Hobbit. Moreover, seven days after the World Premiere in London of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (1 Dec.), the Oscar-winning New Zealand filmmaker will receive his Star in the Walk of Fame (Los Angeles).

"We are very happy to honor such an esteemed filmmaker as Peter Jackson with a star on the Walk of Fame," said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies. "His groundbreaking and award-winning films are part of the legacy of larger-than-life, Hollywood-style entertainment that is beloved the world over."

Not only his new Star will attendance this event the 8th of December, but also a huge wealth of stars who have appeared in Middle Earth Jackson’s trilogies, such as Andy Serkis (as guest speaker), Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, Luke Evans, Richard Armitage and Elijah Wood.

From here, we want to congratulate Mr. Jackson because he really deserve that Star, and, as today is Thanksgiving, we want to thank him for enjoying our lifes with his breathtaking films.

Thank you, Mr. Jackson

Wind through the woods

He looked carefully what he had in front of him.  He started to stink in his thoughts and everything started to become darker and darker. Bad remembers, things that tortured him. Everything was going fast and slowly: the wind felling a leaf, the wind through the woods, the wind inside his chest… Then he understood what was happening. Everything was wrong because he was wrong. He couldn’t breathe, he was suffocating, so he kneeled down and do what she had always had told him. Keeping his mind blank wasn’t difficult in normal situations, but with everything he had lived that day… it was nearly impossible. Then he started to do what he didn’t use to do, think about her. He could see her ocean blue eyes; he could smell her favorite perfume as well as feel her slowly breathe.

When he opened his eyes, his breathing was normal and his heartbeat was stabilizing. He knew she wasn’t there, but he could feel her pride, he had been really fast this time. He had to focus on where he was in order to keep on until another episode happened. The walking wasn’t so bad; however, his progress was slow because he didn’t want to make any mistake.

The day was getting to end and the light was going out. Quickly, the sky would be full of stars and the forest would sink in the darkness. But he hadn’t so much time. He had to arrive to his destination before everything got dull. He started to run. It was risky, but the only solution. Sometimes, you have to take risks if you want to succeed. And sometimes risks are over the top.

What had to happen, happened. He stopped suddenly to hear. He wasn’t wrong. Someone was following him. They weren’t close to him, but if he continued stopped, they would. He started to run faster. He didn’t care about someone else could hear him, two pursuers were the same as one. For a while, he had thought about face up to whoever they were, but, then, he remembered her words: «Promise me that you’d take care of you. Don’t do anything you don’t need to do. And, remember, if you cannot walk or run, then fly». Her words were burning inside him and giving him the power to keep running.

The light was disappearing when he began to see the sky. Blue, pink, purple, orange, a mixture of life crossing the sky, like the sky he saw when he was a child, when he thought, one day, he would touch it. The steps behind them were getting closer. He had to be about to arrive. It couldn’t be so far.

Suddenly, the trees vanished. He was running in a terrace with an end, but he couldn’t stop. Whatever had in front of him, was better than what it was trying to capture him. Freedom was too much valuable those days to reject it. He made a last look to his back and he could distinguish a shape leaving the woods. It wasn’t the moment to stop. The land is almost ended, but he wasn’t going to lose his freedom, not for him, but for her.  «If you cannot walk or run, then fly» whispered her voice. That was exactly what he did. He jumped into the abyss.

Wind. Orange and blue. Wind. Purple and pink. Wind. Breathe and sun. Wings. Fly.

He opened his eyes. He had got it. He was safe and freedom. He wasn’t sure about it, but he had got it. His strong black wings had protected him for the fall.

Now, no one could follow him. Now, he was going to safe her.

I’m not going to say any Spoiler of the book or of any of the Mockingjay films. But I have to say that Sam Clafin is the best Finnick I could ever imagine. He is awesome and his performance is perfect as well as Jennifer’s. I TOTALLY RECOMMEND YOU THE BOOKS (if you haven’t read them [hungers]) and THE FILM (if you are tributes and hungers as well).

Personaly, I would say that I would like that there was only one film of the last book, however, I hope they want to make it more striking so they need two films (apart from the economic interests).

As today the film is officially launched in Spain, here you have another quiz and survey that are going to last until Sunday. Then I tell you the surprise I’m preparing.

Survey: Would you survive the hunger games? Answer here your quiz results.

Thesis statement

The best way to find your own voice is to keep silence and listen since there's no noise that can distract you.

Problem and solution paragraph

Videogames are a great way to let your imagination fly high; however, new technologies are too much advanced and some of these games are only available in the most current videogame platforms and you cannot even try that game. Today, Assassin's Creed Unity has been launched and there’s no more option than PS4 or Xbox One. As I only have the Xbox 360, I haven’t got any chance to try it. I could think about buying the Xbox One to be up-to-date but the Xbox 360 games don’t work in the Xbox One as a commercial trick. It is really frustrating not to be able to play a game you like because the videogames companies only consider their economic position.

One solution to this problem could be sell the Xbox 360, get the Xbox One and rebuy all the videogames you really want to have, buying those you had. Nevertheless, you still lose money so it is not the best solution. Another one would be buying the Xbox One and have both machines in order to be able to use the oldest and the newest videogames. In this case, you spend a lot of money but if you really want to play those new games, you need that platform. Taking into account this problem and the possible solutions I’ve said, if you don’t want to spend much money, I would advise you go to a friend’s house to share the benefits of new platforms being allowed to play those new videogames you really want to try in your friend’s new Xbox One or PS4. In case you haven’t got any friend with this kind of advantages, I advise you to find one quickly, since I don’t think you could wait much time to prove these amazing games.

I completely share your likes. When I was a child I played a lot with my Game Boy. I had all the Pokemon games such as Blue, Red, Gold, Silver, Crystal, and others. I started to play them because my brothers like them and they are older than me, so I liked what they liked. I always chose Squirtle while they, Charmander and Bulbasaur.

Furthermore, I loved Mario Bros games. I had a big old game machine and I had many games to play in it. It was really enjoyable to play Donkey Kong as well as Super Mario or Sonic. Then, Game Boys were invented and I changed my big machine for a little portable one. However, I’ll always prefer that machine even though, currently, it doesn’t work.

For the next week, there will be a survey and, also, a quiz. I hope you like it!!

SURVEY: WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE SUPERHERO?

Advantages and disadvantages of film adaptation

Film adaptations have become more and more popular during the current years; most of the films that are available to watch in the cinemas are based on books. The majority of the population believes that is a really good idea to based films on books. However, there are other people who consider that it’s better not to make films from books since they could destroy the idea they have about the book. The advantages of this kind of films could be that, finally, we could really see what we have imagined. Moreover, if it is a famous book, there will be a famous film that could raise millions for the producer companies. It is said that if a film have been based on a book that most of people like, it will be a success, however, it’s not always so simple. The main disadvantage of these films – for the people and for the productions – is that it could become a disaster such as the recently films Shadowhunters: City of bones or Beautiful creatures. The greatest expectations of the people came down when they saw the films (mine too) due to the fact that the characters or the plot wasn’t as good as they had to be, or as the book said. These failures could cost millions for the film companies. Nevertheless, there are other films that are successful and are based on books like The Hunger Games or The Maze Runner. Apart from now, we had to think before watching a film and not judging a film by if it’s based on book or not.

(It doesn’t mean you don’t have to go to the cinema and watch films based on books you’ve read, please, keep doing it! And if you haven’t read the book, I invite you to do it.)

Which is the film based on book that has disappointed you the most?

Opinion paragraph

Classical games such as chess can help us to develop our mental skills, and this is the reason why I like them. I have been playing Sudoku and that kind of games since I can remember. I played them with my brothers every Sunday afternoon and we had really nice times. However, most of people think they are boring, especially young people. As it isn't a physical exercise, they don't want to try them. What they ignore is that they sometimes play them through the new technologies. There are some applications that allow you to play these games like "Pou” that consist of taking care of a creature and play with it in many different ways. It is said that classical games are boring but, sometimes, we play them ever without knowing it, thus they can't be so horrible.

All of me

Music is wonderful. I mean, everyone knows it but not everyone realize it. When you are listening good music, everything around you disappears and you are alone with yourself and the music. It’s a kind of magic. If there is magic in our world, I would say that it’s the music.

Music can hurt you while you are weak, but also can give you the courage to fight against your fears. It can build castles on a cloud or crystal swords. It shows you worlds that you couldn’t ever imagined, especially instrumental music such as soundtracks. Composers are amazing. Their work is more important than we can think since they create the emotion of the films and without the images, the music still catch us.

Lyric songs also excite us, since words are other kind of magic. However, you have to choose the words carefully to make an artwork. Ballads and lullabies make us get in love of music as well as rock and metal make us feel indestructible. Music is the soul’s language and if we let it be, we can fix the world. If all of us let it be, the world would be a better place and conflicts would disappear.
However, we prefer the sound of the weapons and the crying of children. If we shared all the love we have through the music, everyone had a good place in this world, without suffering and pain.

Here you have a piano score of the song ALL OF ME de John Legend
